Why do people love diamond jewelry

Diamonds and diamond jewelry has been sought after and recognized as the most rare and expensive material thing a person could own. But why exactly is this?

In modern day diamond jewelry can be seen as a symbol of a certain social status. Someone with a few pieces of expensive diamond jewelry is assumed to be wealthy. Personally, I feel that when it comes to diamond jewelry less tends to be more as over doing it and over compensation on accessories be it diamond jewelry or not, is easily mistaken for someone who's ONLY value is on their jewelry.

A nice necklace and a wedding band is really all that is required for any given occasion. Unless, of course a white tie affair is to ensue giving the go ahead for more lavish pieces. There is a fine line between classy and gaudy which many in present day have seemed to have struck.

Jewelry is in no way less appreciated or valued in general but rather, the overall appeal has shifted into more practical terms. People don't want thousands upon thousands of dollars worth of jewelry hanging off of them while they risk losing it to theft, misplacement, or damage during the course of the day.

Folks should invest in one or two solid quality pieces that will be worn day to day and leave the higher end show pieces on the shelf only to be worn on those very special occasions.
